Joanna & Michael
Wild Flowers & Garden Roses
A September wedding in Santa Barbara
Setting the Tone
For Joanna and Michael’s wedding, we wanted the printed materials to feel distinctly modern and romantic, with visually compelling artwork appearing throughout. For a wedding in September in Santa Barbara, the palette was intended to capture the dualities of softness and vibrance expressed by the afternoon sunlight of Southern California. The concept for the artwork was an untamed English rose garden - the setting for the intimate ceremony - alight with vibrant and indulgent hues for a slightly surreal affect.
Save the Dates
For Joanna & Michael’s Santa Barbara wedding, we designed a series of unique floral illustrations that would capture a sense of exuberance and festivity. These illustrative elements were introduced on the couple’s save the dates, and were incorporated into each printed material to follow. The save the dates were designed in a unique double-sided format, allowing the illustration to predominate on the front of the card, with all of the wedding details reserved for the back of the card.
We created a folding “paper book” style program digitally printed on a light weight, soft white cover stock to contain all of the essential ceremony details. The booklets were tied at the seam with a simple strand of gold thread. The floral motif adorned the cover of the program, with an illustrative wreath framing the couple’s names.
